Dear brothers and sisters, March 16, 2010;
Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmathullahi Wa Bharakhathuhu.
As Muslims we know that a person dies exactly at the time recorded by the Angel guarding the womb on the 120th day of conception. But the nature of that death -- leading to Paradise or to Hell -- is not enforced in contrast to the act of dying. This is because Allah Subhana Wa Taala is Most Just. [
http://deentech.com/MI_IC_Is_Allah_unjust.aspx ] Whether one reaches Hell or Heaven is the responsibility of the individual.
===
Pregnant women and new mothers are dying because of “systemic failures” in our current health system, the Amnesty International report says. Those failures include non-existent or inadequate health care coverage (13 million American women, or one in five of reproductive age, have no health insurance), financial and physical barriers to accessing care (including a lack of physicians in rural areas), and an overuse of risky interventions, such as inducing labor and delivering via cesarean section.
African-American women are almost four times as likely as white women to die from pregnancy-related causes, according to the report.
===
Why should African-American women carry four times the risk? We believe it is mainly because they are poor. The Health Reform Bill currently under debate offers subsidies for the poor and thus these African-American women could afford medical attention. How does that change whether on death she enters Heaven or Hell?
We look upon medical attention as one of enhancing the happiness of the patient. With medical attention the dying pregnant woman would have the desire and the intention to become a successful mother. We cannot say that of a pregnant African-American woman without health care.
There are some Members of Congress who oppose the Senate version of the Health Reform just because a poor woman [black or white or brown] who has availed the subsidy to get medical insurance without abortion-coverage is allowed to buy a separate insurance for abortion coverage on her own income.
Who would seek abortion? A victim of rape would seek abortion. Such an abortion is anyway allowed by the law. There is no opposition to such an abortion. So the only situation a woman seeks abortion opposed by some is when she does not desire to carry the baby to full term. One possible cause might be the male whom she loved has betrayed her and abandoned her and she does not wish to have the memory of the betrayer living with her all her life.
The male through whom she conceived would naturally be a Muslim in the case of a Muslim woman. She has to keep the Iddah for 3 monthly periods only. Let us say that her husband has sex with her the night before he divorced her. That the husband had sex with her after about 2 weeks of her monthly period. Let us further consider that she became pregnant because of that last sex. Using the medical facilities available she finds out that she is pregnant before the end of her Iddah. For reasons known to him, the husband refuses to take her back. [One condition is that her husband married after divorcing her and he is married to four wives as there is no Iddah for the male.] What should this Muslim woman do: carry the piece of flesh to 120 days so that she has to carry the child to full term and hand over to the ex-husband after giving birth or abort that piece of flesh?
===
The words "womb piece flesh" appear in 6 hadith(s) in Bukhari translation.
(3) Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said, "Allah has appointed an angel in the
womb, and the angel says, 'O Lord! A drop of discharge (i.e. of semen), O Lord! a clot, O Lord! a
piece of
flesh.' And then, if Allah wishes to complete the child's creation, the angel will say. 'O Lord! A male or a female? O Lord! wretched or blessed (in religion)? What will his livelihood be? What will his age be?' The angel writes all this while the child is in the
womb of its mother."
(Book #55, Hadith #550)===
As indicated at
http://deentech.com/MI_IC_Abortion_in_Islam.aspx she does not commit any sin by aborting a piece of flesh inside her womb.
What benefit does she get aborting that piece of flesh? Well, she could marry another husband and live with him.
Now if the Health Reform Bill is defeated by some pro-life Members of Congress, is it acceptable for the Muslims living in America?
What is the opinion of the Catholics?
===
The Catholic Health Association (CHA), which represents Catholic hospitals, has endorsed healthcare reform legislation.
Carol Keehan, chief executive of the CHA, noted that while the bill is not perfect, it does represent a "major first step" toward covering all Americans. That stance does not settle well with many pro-life Catholic groups, including the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and the National Right to Life Committee.
"It is an absolute disgrace that there are a large number of so-called 'Catholic' organizations pushing for the passage of this bill, which is totally against Catholic teaching," comments Jim Sedlak, spokesman for the
American Life League. "They are betraying their Catholic faith for political gain, and it is just horrible to witness."
===
Are the Catholic hospitals betraying their faith? Because of what Prophet Jesus, son of Mary, peace be upon them, did on a Sabbath Day, we assert that the CHA is right and the pro-lifers are wrong.
===
11And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand.
22And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the
sabbath day; that they might accuse him.
33And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.
44And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the
sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.
55And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched [it] out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
66And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
77But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea,
88And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and [from] beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.
===
It is well known that no work was to be done on a Sabbath Day. Still Prophet Jesus, son of Mary, peace be upon them, did indeed cure a person. In view of the above, the support given to the Health Reform Bill is more in line with Christianity because the Health Reform Bill has all good except that laxity with respect to abortion.
We hope that the pro-lifers would look at the overall harm they would do by defeating the Health Reform Bill just because the Senate version is not as strict as the House version. Do they think Prophet Jesus, son of Mary, peace be upon them, would approve of their action?
Ya Allah tune the hearts of the pro-life Members of Congress so that they drop their opposition and support the Health Reform Bill. Aameen, Aameen, Ya Rabbil Aalameen.
Kindly forward to all Christian friends in America so that they contact the pro-lifers and induce them to follow Prophet Jesus, son of Mary, peace be upon them and show kindness to the poor suffering woman who due to circumstances beyond her desires an abortion.
With prayers to Allah Subhana Wa Taala,
Your brother,
Mohideen Ibramsha
Was Salaam
