Dear brothers and sisters,               May 15, 2010;

Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmathullahi Wa Bharakhathuhu.

May Allah Subhana Wa Taala reward brother Mohammed Ayub for initiating the email and the moderator(s) of IPRCCI for forwarding the same. We fear that the subject line indicating that Prophet Moses, peace be upon him, is buried near the Masjid Al-Aqsa is wrong. May Allah Subhana Wa Taala forgive your brother, the undersigned, if he is mistaken in what follows.

The words "sand hill" appear in 2 hadith(s) in Bukhari translation.

(1) Narrated Abu Huraira: The angel of death was sent to Moses and when he went to him, Moses slapped him severely, spoiling one of his eyes. The angel went back to his Lord, and said, "You sent me to a slave who does not want to die." Allah restored his eye and said, "Go back and tell him (i.e. Moses) to place his hand over the back of an ox, for he will be allowed to live for a number of years equal to the number of hairs coming under his hand." (So the angel came to him and told him the same). Then Moses asked, "O my Lord! What will be then?" He said, "Death will be then." He said, "(Let it be) now." He asked Allah that He bring him near the Sacred Land at a distance of a stone's throw. Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, "Were I there I would show you the grave of Moses by the way near the red sand hill."  (Book #23, Hadith #423)

If we interpret the words "Sacred Land" as a Muslim, it would naturally be Jerusalem, the first Qibla. However, the request being made by Prophet Moses, peace be upon him, we need to interpret the same as a Jew and not as a Muslim.

The Holy Torah is the Book given to Prophet Moses, peace be upon him. What does the Holy Torah say about the death of Prophet Moses, peace be upon him?

Deuteronomy Chapter 34

2And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea,
3And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar.
4And the LORD said unto him, This [is] the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see [it] with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.
5So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.
6And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.
7And Moses [was] an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
8And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping [and] mourning for Moses were ended.
9And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.
10And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,
11In all the signs and the wonders, which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land,
12And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.

Are there any supporting evidences about the burial place of Prophet Moses, peace be upon him?

The Jerusalem-Jericho road was one of the primary routes used by Mediterranean Arabs to make a pilgrimage to Mecca. The great, many-domed building which marks the Mausoleum of Moses was located at what would be have marked the end of the first day's march in that direction. Originally, it was simply a point from which pilgrims could look across the Jordan Valley and catch a glimpse of Mount Nebo where the tomb of Moses was thought to be located.

A Google Map of Nabi_Musa is given below.

As per the Holy Torah, Prophet Moses, peace be upon him, was buried near Moab in Jordan. The location of Moab is shown in the picture below by a pointer marked "A." In that same picture, the location of Nabi_Musa is the tip of the scale marker at the bottom left. It could be seen that the distance between Nabi_Musa and Moab is approximately 20 miles as the crow flies across the valley.

Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, refers to a path. If the path is taken to mean the path of the pilgrims, then the distance is about 20 miles. However if Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, meant a path near the grave of Prophet Moses, peace be upon him, we see a path within 500 feet of the Moab mountain in the picture below.

Given the above, we assume that the grave of Prophet Moses, peace be upon him, is quite some distance away from the Masjid Al-Aqsa.

Why are we concerned about locating the grave of Prophet Moses, peace be upon him? If the grave is located near the Masjid-Al-Aqsa by implication it should be on the 'Temple Mount.' In that case, Muslims are duty bound to protect the grave and thus any damage to 'Temple Mount' should be resisted by Muslims. We have no permission to move the grave of Prophet Moses, peace  be upon him, even if we really succeed in locating the grave.

we had suggested that the Masjids on the 'Temple Mount' be relocated at a platform approximately 400 feet above the top of the current location of the Masjids at the same spot. This suggestion permits the Zionists to build their temple without destroying the Masjid-Al-Aqsa and thus avoid bloodshed between those who want to build the Temple and those of us Muslims who desire to preserve the Masjid-Al-Aqsa.

By building a platform 200 feet above the Mount for a Church, and a platform 400 feet above the Mount for the relocated Masjid-Al-Aqsa and the Masjid-Al-Rock we free the Temple Mount for the Zionists to build their temple. This suggestion does not arise from any cowardice, but a desire to avoid bloodshed, on the strength of Verse 5:32 of the Holy Quran.

===
Yusuf Ali 5:32
On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our apostles with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.

Incidentally, who are the Children of Israel? At the time of Prophet Moses, peace be upon him, and after him until the appearance of Prophet Jesus, son of Mary, peace be upon them, the Jews were the Children of israel. At the time of Prophet Jesus, son of Mary, peace be upon them and after him until Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, the Christians were the Children of Israel. During the time of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and until the Day of Judgment, Muslims indeed are the Children of Israel. As Muslims let us avoid bloodshed, Inshah Allah.

Kindly pass on to all your friends, in particular to the Muslims, Christians, Jews, and the Zionists [who are indeed magicians masquarading as Jews] so that we avoid bloodshed, Inshah Allah.

With prayers to Allah Subhana Wa Taala,

Your brother,

Mohideen Ibramsha

The Prophet (saw) said: "The Angel of Death was sent to Musa (Moses). When he approached Musa (as), Musa punched him in the eye. The Angel returned to Allah and said: 'You sent me to a servant who does not want to die.' Allah restored the Angel's eye and then ordered: 'Return to him and tell him to put his hand on the back of an ox and for every hair that falls under it, he will be granted one year of life.' Musa asked: 'O Lord, what will happen after that?' Allah replied: 'Then death.' Musa decided: 'Let it be now.' Musa then asked Allah to let him die close to the Sacred Land (near Masjid Al-Aqsa) at a distance of a stone's throw." Abu Hurairah (ra) added: "The Prophet (saw) then said: 'If I were there, I would show you his grave below the red sand hill on the side of the road.'" (Bukhari)
